In today’s world of cloud storage and device syncing, it’s hard to imagine that something we wrote could get locked away in a format no one can read. But technology wasn’t always so standardized. When Gene Roddenberry moved from his famous typewriter to a pair of custom-built computers with custom operating systems, the future of the notes and stories he wrote became precarious. In fact, they were lost for decades. Now, thanks to a company called DriveSavers, that data has been recovered. We take a look at this fascinating story.
