Inertial dampers were off on the set of the popular fan series Star Trek Phase II this week as one Kirk bounced out of the captain’s chair and another bounced in. Executive Producer James Cawley, who has split his time between playing the role of Kirk and producing past episodes, has decided to focus his energies on production. In doing so he has cast veteran actor Brian Gross in the iconic role.
The 33-year-old Gross has appeared in guest spots and recurring roles on Cold Case, CSI: New York, NCIS: Los Angeles, Psych, and Saving Grace.
Phase II is currently filming the episode “Bread and Savagery,” a sequel to the original Star Trek episode “Bread and Circuses,” which will be Gross’s first appearance as James Tiberius Kirk.
