Setting Star Trek: Discovery ten years prior to The Original Series offers a unique opportunity to include characters from that era. The first two we know of are Harry Mudd—who has made three appearance in Star Trek—and Sarek, whose seven appearances only scratch the surface of his important in Trek lore.
