Before putting his stamp on Season 4 of Star Trek: Enterprise, Manny Coto was the director of a number of lower budget horror movies from the 1990s. The best known of these was Dr. Giggles. The film features Voyager guest star Larry Drake as the title character, a serial killer who murders his victims through the use of modified medical techniques.

In this episode of Stage Nine, John and Mike... examine... Coto's slasher movie. We discuss its place in horror film history, the use of comedy in the horror genre, and the evolution of Coto's career.
