Anbo-Jyutsu is a form martial arts popular in the 24th century. Apparently tracing its origins back to Japanese martial arts, anbo-jyutsu matches two competitors dressed in protective armor against one another. The armor includes a visor that blinds the competitor.

There are some similarities to kendo, a Japanese form of fencing, but the competitors in anbo-jyutsu use long staffs with proximity sensors instead of a shinai. Because the visor blocks sight, an audible signal indicates when the opponent is near.

Anbo-jyutsu was first seen in the TNG episode “The Icarus Factor” and has also been referenced in novels.
