Star Trek 2013 Filming Begins

The cameras have begun rolling on the next Star Trek movie and effects work is underway at ILM. On January 14 Paramount made it official with a press release announcing that principal photography has started on its joint venture with Skydance Productions and Bad Robot. The movie is produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and the script was written by the trio of Kurtzman, Orci, and Lindelof.

Down In Front Releases Wrath of Khan Commentary

Down In Front—the commentary podcast that counts Ready Room regular Brian Finifter amongst its hosts—has released a commentary of great interest to Star Trek fans; and it may just leave you screaming “KHAAAAN!!!!” That’s right, in a recent episode the gang offered their insights into perhaps the most famous of all Star Trek films, “The Wrath of Khan.” All members of the Down in Front family are, in some way, involved in the film industry and work on movies for a living. The crew provide first-hand information for each movie in the areas close to our heart and expertise and focus on story and story theory.

Star Trek Online Free-to-Play Launches 

The long-awaited launch of Star Trek Online free-to-play took place on January 17 and there was great excitement surrounding the event. STO developer Cryptic Studios teamed up with the gaming blog Massively for a series of special launch events that ran throughout the day. A number of Livestream events provided tutorials for new players while giveaways took place at various locales in-game, including Deep Space 9. So get set to play as much as you like—for as long as you like—at no cost.
