Star Trek Phase II Casts Brian Gross as Captain Kirk 

Phase II Executive Producer James Cawley, who has split his time between playing the role of Kirk and producing past episodes, has decided to focus his energies on production. In doing so he has cast veteran actor Brian Gross in the iconic role.

LeVar Burton Appears On the Verge

LeVar Burton is one of our favorite actors from Star Trek, and he recently sat down with Joshua Topolsky on the “The Verge” to talk about a range of topics. Up for discussion were his new Reading Rainbow app for iPad, what it’s like to be an Internet Meme, and of course his iconic role as Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge.

CBS Updates the TOS Communicator App for iPhone

The Star Trek Communicator app for iPhone and iPod touch has been around for quite some time, but this week CBS released an update that make the app better than ever. The updated app has a simplified interface, an all-new look, TOS-era lights and buttons, and a series of new themed sound packs.

We’ve seen some interesting fan-made title sequences for various Star Trek series, but none can hold a candle to this alternate opening for TOS, created by YouTube user BeamanTV. It’s brilliant work that you must see. Let’s hope Beaman takes on TNG next.
