Abrams Star Trek Sequel to Feature Familiar TOS Villain (But Not Khan)

Work on the script for the sequel to J.J. Abrams’s Star Trek film are reportedly well underway, and writers Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman, and Robert Orci have hinted at what—or who—it may feature. Although there has been rampant speculation that Khan would appear in this Star Trek II as well, word from someone who claims to be close to the project is that “it’s definitely a character that will make fans of TOS excited. Think along the lines of Harry Mudd or Trelane or Gary Mitchell or the Talosians or the Horta. Actually it’s one of those that I named.”

While saying he’s not against 3-D, he clearly doesn’t want it to be used as a gimmick. File that under “thank you J.J.”
