TOS Novel Family Gets A Choice of Catastrophes
The original crew of the Enterprise 1701 are back in the literary form in the upcoming novel A Choice of Catastrophes. This TOS novel is scheduled for release on August 30 from Simon & Schuster and was written by Steve Mollmann and Michael Schuster. It’s a tale of McCoy as the doctor finds all of those around him suddenly falling into comas for no apparent reason.
To provide more insight into the novel, Star Trek.com sat down with the authors to find out how they decided to write this story, talk about their writing process, what makes McCoy a great character, and whether or not they would like to write more Star Trek novels.
For you Bones fans out there, you’ll enjoy hearing Schuster’s insights. He says “McCoy in a starring role certainly is something we both wanted. It also was a lot of fun to separate him from both Kirk and Spock because that made it very apparent how much each of them depends on the others.”
You can tell the both Mollmann and Schuster are fans of Dr. McCoy which should make this a great read for fans of The Original Series.
A Choice of Catastrophes runs 352 pages and will sell for $7.99. Watch for it August30 and check out StarTrek.com’s full interview with Mollmann and Schuster for more about the very interesting back story to the writing of this novel.
