Second Tier Voting for "Delphies" Begins!

by Shanna Gilkeson

Anticipation builds as the second round of voting for the Delphic Expanse Awards (“Delphies”) begins.

Coinciding with Star Trek: Enterprise’s tenth anniversary, fan community The Delphic Expanse is celebrating its first birthday by honoring its members’ creative contributions to Enterprise fandom. The first tier of voting in fan fiction categories ran from August 1 through August 15. The winners of the first round are now competing for the top spots in three smaller groups. Second tier voting runs from August 16 through August 31. Winners of those categories will compete in the final round, which will run from September 1 through September 10. Voting for untiered categories will remain open until September 10. Winners are to be announced on September 11, which marks the first anniversary of The Delphic Expanse.

There is still time to get involved in the Delphies, even if you have missed the nomination phase or the first voting cycle. Voting is restricted to Expanse members. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes. Voting instructions are only visible to members who are logged in. Details—including lists of first round winners, honorable mentions, and nominees in untiered categories—can be found here.

"Delphie" Nominations Are In!

by Shanna Gilkeson

As Trek.fm reported last week, Star Trek: Enterprise fan community The Delphic Expanse is holding its first annual Delphic Expanse Awards—“Delphies” for short—in order to honor its members’ creative contributions to the fandom. This year nominations were accepted for fan fiction and fan art, and there is a possibility for expansion to include other types of fan works in the future.

Nominations closed at midnight, August 1, however there’s still time to get in on the voting. You must be a member of the community to vote. Registration is free, quick, and painless. Instructions for voting are invisible to guest visitors, so you must be logged in to vote. Simply click “Community” from the Expanse’s front page to get started.

The website, which caters to a variety of tastes, clearly labels all artwork and fiction. Information like ratings, summaries, and character relationships are included to help visitors find what they’re looking for.

The first round of voting for tiered categories runs until August 10. Round 2 will take place from August 11 through August 31. The final round will run from September 1 through September 10. Voting will remain open for untiered categories during the entire voting period. Lists of nominees can be found here.

Winners will be announced on the date of the site’s first anniversary, September 11.

Cast Your Vote for the Delphies!

The Enterprise fan community The Delphic Expanse is set to honor the creative work of its members in the first annual Delphic Expanse Awards. The Delphies recognize excellence in writing and artwork dedicated to Star Trek’s latest TV incarnation.

Founded on September 11, 2010, The Delphic Expanse boasts a fan fiction archive with nearly 300 stories despite being less than one year old. In addition, an art gallery (currently in beta) is home to artwork created by community members. The gallery is scheduled for a full official launch a few weeks from now.

Nominations of the Delphies are open until August 1, 2011 at 12:00 a.m. EDT. Nominees will be announced August 2, 2011.

First-round voting will take place August 2 through August 15, and non-tiered categories will continue to be open for voting until September 10. For tiered categories, the second round of voting will run from August 16 through August 31, and the third round will span September 1 through September 10.

Winners will be announced on September 11, 2011, the first anniversary of The Delphic Expanse.

There are no glamorous prizes at stake, just bragging rights, a nifty icon that winners can use wherever they post, and the undying gratitude of the fandom.

You must be a member to vote. Registration is free.
