Upcoming Star Trek Console Game Grabs Five Awards
Star Trek, the upcoming video game from Digital Extremes and Paramount Digital Entertainment, was introduced with pre-alpha teaser footage during Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s keynote address at E3. The game created a lot of buzz at the expo and left with five honors: Most Valuable Game of E3 2011 from both Playstation: The Official Magazine and Official Xbox Magazine; Best of Show from Electric Playground; Best Co-op from The Bit Bag; and the very sought after “Best Awesome” from Pixelated Geek.
Gamers will be able to play as either Kirk or Spock as they attempt to stop an enemy race from taking over the galaxy. The story is being penned by BAFTA-award winner Marianne Krawczyk, who is also known for the God of War series, in collaboration with Star Trek film writers-producers Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, David Lindelof, and Bad Robot.
Officially licensed by CBS Consumer Products, this title for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC takes its inspiration from the J.J. Abrams 2009 reboot. A phaser attachment for the PlayStation Move controller will be available for the PS3 version of the game.
